my relationship with the hebrew language: a bilingual comic

an explanation for the voices demanding one, largely in my head, in either language.

frame 1:
the newspaper is haaretz, a major israeli newspaper which you can also read in english. the headlines read: “occupation,” “death,” “war crimes,” “…occupation”
i’m saying, “חרה!”: “shit!”
frame 2:
ofra haza is a famous israeli musician whose music i love.
the song of hers that i’m singing is “le’orech ha-yam” (“along the shoreline”). you can listen to it here, and find an english translation of the lyrics here.
the lines i’m singing would be, in english, “along the shoreline… there are not waves, there is a world…”
frame 3:
אני לא מדברת אנגלית…: ani lo medaberet anglit…, “i don’t speak english…”
frame 4:
מה שלומך?: ma shlomech? “how are you?”
